Welcome!

Ever since I made my crochet mushroom earrings, I have been obsessed with the idea of crochet earrings. I made several more pairs of the mushrooms, a pair of star earrings, and now strawberry earrings! A couple weeks ago, I made my first pair of crochet strawberry earrings as a gift, but I loved them so much that I had to make pair for myself. Now, these strawberries are an essential part of my summer wardrobe!

As for materials, you’ll just need a small amount of yarn, a very small amount of stuffing, and a pair of earring hooks.

  • Yarn - I used the LB Collection Cotton Bamboo Linen Yarn in cherry blossom, chartreuse, and white; however, you can use any sport weight yarn you’d like!

  • Stuffing - I used a small amount of polyester fiber fill, but you could use yarn scraps instead. The strawberries require such a small amount of stuffing that it won’t make much of a difference either way!

  • Earring hooks - This pattern was specifically made to work with the shape of earring hooks linked below in the MATERIALS section. I love using this kind of earring hook for my crochet earrings because they’re easy to attach to my crochet projects! These earring hooks specifically are extra lovely because they don’t irritate or infect my ears like most other hooks do. I know there are many of us that struggle with that, so I wanted to point it out in case it’s something that you have to be wary about just like I do!

Made up of mostly single crochets, this quick and easy crochet project is a perfect project for beginners! These little strawberries provide a great way to practice your amigurumi skills and are perfect for using up scrap yarn! They make great gifts and are sure to be a favorite throughout the remaining summer months!

So let’s get started!

STRAWBERRY

(Make 2)

RND 1: With color A and a 3.25mm hook, make a MC and ch 1 to secure. SC 6 into MC. Pull MC tail tight to close. <6 sts>

RND 2: *SC, inc.* Rep *-* until end of RND. <9 sts>

RND 3: *SC 2, inc.* Rep *-* until end of RND. <12 sts>

RND 6: SC 18. <18 sts>

RND 7: *SC, invdec.* Rep *-* until end of RND. Put a small amount of stuffing (or stuffing equivalent, such as yarn scraps) into your strawberry. You can also stuff the MC tail inside your strawberry at this point, so you won’t have to weave it in later. <12 sts>

RND 8: Invdec in every st until end of RND. Fasten off leaving a long enough tail to sew the top closed (~ 3”). <6 sts>

Sew top closed and weave in end.

LEAVES

(Make 2)

RND 1: With color B and a 3.25mm hook, make a MC and ch 1 to secure. SC 6 into MC. Pull MC tail tight to close. <6 sts>

RND 2: Ch 4. Starting in the 2nd ch from your hook, SC 3. Sl st into 1st SC of RND 1.

Ch 3. Starting in the 2nd ch from your hook, SC 2. Sl st into next SC of RND 1.

*Ch 4, SC 3, and sl st into next SC of RND 1. Ch 3, SC 2, and sl st into next SC of RND 1.* Rep *-* one more time. Ch 3 and sl st between the 3rd and 4th leaf you made.

Fasten off leaving a long enough tail (~ 8”) to sew the leaves onto your strawberry.

Weave in MC tail.

ASSEMBLY

STEP 1: With an 8”-12” strand of color C yarn, sew little seeds all over your strawberry. You can create as many or as few as you’d like! Weave in ends. Repeat with second strawberry.

STEP 2: With a tapestry needle, sew the leaves to the top of your strawberry. Sew along the base of the leaves. Don’t sew down the ends of the leaves as we want them to stick out from our strawberry a bit. Weave in end. Repeat with second strawberry.

STEP 3: Hook your earring under that little chain we made on top of the leaves, and repeat with the second strawberry. (Optional: With your fingers or a pair of needle nose pliers, squeeze the small hook that your strawberry is hanging from closed a bit to ensure your strawberry won’t fall off of the hook while wearing.)

Congrats! You’ve finished your strawberry earrings!
